What are veteran trees and whay are they important? Wokingham Veteran Trees Association is an established voluntary group with many years' experience and knowledge in the field. This course will begin with how the Wokingham local district veteran tree survey arose and how the group has developed, moving on to investigate the practical components of measuring and recording ancient trees (inclusing work with GPS). The session will cover the organisation of survyes, gathering data, as well as the benefits and challenges these can present. There will be a practical session in the afternoon to look at anicient trees and practice some survey techniques.
